More than 70% of all digital transformations fail, according to the McKinsey Global Survey ( https://www.mckinsey.com/business-functions/mckinsey-digital/our-insights/digital-transformation-on-the-ceo-agenda ). The success rate varies depending on the organizational structure, tech-savvy organizations have a 24% success rate while more traditional organizations have a success rate of 4-11%. Bearing this in mind, digital transformation commonly known as digitalization has emerged to be one of the most important processes organizations are adapting, especially post the COVID-19 pandemic, to improve the performance of the organization and sustain financial growth. The Federation of Kenya Employers(FKE) has adapted to this new form of business operation to better membership experience and to remain relevant in this new era through a members portal and modern website.
FKE in partnership with the Confederation of Norwegian Employers (NHO) is currently running a 5-year project that entails four components to achieve some of its core functions as an employers’ membership body, Digitization if FKE being a key component under Organizational Development, thus the steady transition. By this virtue, FKE in conjunction with NHO hosted employer organizations from East Africa comprising the Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) and Federation of Uganda Employers (FUE) to share and learn from their Digital transformation journeys at the Fairview Hotel, Nairobi.
The sessions were edifying and very informative as the organizations learnt from each other’s digitization journeys and were equipped with new digitization skills highlighting improving the user journey. The team from NHO expounded on Search Engine Optimization, Content Creation, and Portal Integration to promote a better user experience for members. In addition, there were personalized break-out sessions where practical improvements were done on websites and portals.
The core objective of this interaction is to ensure targeted dissemination of information to attract and sustain members and to keep up with emerging member demands in this new digital transition. Through this interaction, relationships between the employers’ organizations from the various countries were strengthened and established for future partnerships.
