The Federation of Kenya Employers (FKE) under the support of GIZ organized a Coastal Region Joint Stakeholders Forum for Employers, Training Institutions, Government Agencies, and Development Partners at the Premium Inn Hotel in Mombasa. The forum which took place from the 19th to the 23rd of August 2024 under the theme "Bridging Skills, Empowering Futures: Uniting Industry and Education" brought together 75 participants to discuss the industry's critical role in shaping the future of the ongoing Dual TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) Training Program, aimed at bridging the skills gap and empowering the future workforce.
Through this initiative, FKE has successfully mobilized stakeholders, securing 338 placement opportunities: 178 in Nairobi and 160 in the Coast region. The project's overall goal is to place 6,000 students across all regions in Kenya into labour-market-relevant courses including 40% young women with 60 TVET institutions and 800 companies expected to participate. Additionally, 1,800 TVET personnel are being trained, focusing on 15 key occupations, including three in green sectors.
As an employer, you can make a difference by offering placement slots for students in the Dual TVET program. To get involved, contact Mr. William Wandera at wwandera@fke-kenya.org
