Agriculture is the backbone of Kenya's economy employing over 80 percent of the population. In fact, more than 50 percent of export earnings are attributed to agricultural products with cash crops of coffee, tea, tobacco, cotton, sisal, pyrethrum, and cashew nuts leading the way.

The Western Kenya Branch, which serves Western and Nyanza Provinces, has continued to serve members under the Chairmanship of Eng. David Onyango, assisted by his Vice-Chairman – Mr. Vinod Shah, and the Regional Manager – Mr. John Muasya.

Committee meetings are held in various venues so as to familiarize the members with the activities at different enterprises. During the meetings important economic issues affecting employers in the region are discussed.

Some of these issues are: developments in the area of industrial relations, state of sugar industry and general agriculture, infrastructure – such as conditions of roads in the region, power and water supply, security situation, private sector investment, and other social economic issues which affect members.
